Tattoo aftercare
Thank you for trusting me. Healing decides how the tattoo looks in five years. Choose the method that feels better to you at the end of the session. I will tell you beforehand which one suits your motif better.
Healing film
The film stays on for 3 days. Fluid may collect underneath, which is normal.
Classic bandage
The bandage stays on for 3–5 hours. Then care for it several times a day for 3 days.
Method 1: Healing film
- 01
The first 3 hours
No showering, so the film can bond well. Showering is fine after that.
- 02
The first 3 days
Do not rub or scratch the film. No sauna, bath, swimming pool or intense exercise. No tight clothing over the tattoo.
- 03
Removing the film after 3 days
Best done in a warm shower, slowly and parallel to the skin. Rinse with warm water and mild soap without alcohol, pat dry with paper, let it air-dry for 5–10 minutes, then apply a thin layer of healing cream.
Method 2: Classic bandage
- 01
First hours
Keep the bandage on for 3–5 hours. Then remove it with clean hands. If it sticks, dampen it with warm water and do not pull it off sharply.
- 02
First 3 days, 3–4 times a day
Rinse with warm water and mild soap without alcohol, pat dry with paper, apply a thin layer of healing ointment, and cover with a clean bandage, especially at night and when going outside.
- 03
After 3 days
No bandage needed anymore. Apply a thin layer of ointment 2–3 times a day. Showering is possible right away, just no long hot showers.
For both methods
Avoid
Sauna, steam room, pool, sea, long soaking. Direct sun and tanning beds. Intense exercise. Tight clothing. Contact with animals. Scrubs and strong friction.
Moisturise
Apply cream 2–3 times a day, more often if the skin is dry. Do not scratch or peel flakes off, that is part of healing. Keep moisturising for about 2–3 weeks.
Sun protection
Use SPF 50+ on the tattoo in the sun. This keeps colour and lines sharp for years.
Important: If you notice redness, strong heat, pus or fever, contact a doctor immediately. This guide does not replace medical advice.
